Princess Emery is 14 weeks old!

Princess Emery,

Today you are 14 weeks old.... I've given up on trying to get time to slow down because it just ain't happening! I swear you are growing by the minute and get cuter every second. We are all so totally, completely in love. Words just don't even come close to describing it. I'll have to write more later because I'm exhausted (something about you still waking up every three-four hours, but who's complaining) and have all intentions of going to snuggle w/you in the bed right now.

Love you sweet baby girl!

Oh to be young again.

Being a teacher I see LOTS of kids. Kids in the halls, in the bathrooms, in the cafeteria, in front of me, behind me, beside me, outside of school in the stores (I swear they can "feel" it when a teacher walks through the doors and will hunt that poor soul down stalking them from behind the shelves... but that's a whole nother post), in my dreams - you get the picture. That gives me a lot of time to just take in what their little worlds are like. I know there are exceptions to everything, but for the most part life is so innocent with them. No worries, no fears, no what will tomorrow bring? For most, their biggest stress is will they get their homework done before it's too dark to play outside. I think I want that as my biggest stress.

We have had some really bumpy times here lately. Jeff's career field is really suffering because of this economy and his pay and work hours have been cut drastically. In fact, after gathering up the W-2's we made $20,000 less this year than last. How sad is that? Of course when money issues come up, so does the stress level. Too many times lately I've found myself wide awake (and not from the exhaustion of having a newborn) wondering how I can fix this. Stress eating, which I sooo do not need... how come I couldn't be a stress non-eater? He's looking for other work, but he's been with this company for 17 years and this is all he has done... he's only 37. Surveying companies aren't hiring, other companies aren't hiring, it's all very, very frustrating.

I would not trade my life for anything. I'm a very lucky, blessed woman. I have an awesome husband that is my bestfriend. Two beautiful, perfect children. Wonderful parents and family. I know I'm lucky. But sometimes, I catch that glimpse of a child skipping down the hall with no cares in the world and I think, "Oh to have that for just a day would be so nice!" Then it's back to reality. ;o) Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this right? Sometimes I feel awful to even think it, like I'm not appreciating what I have!

Anywho, enough about my whining. It's time to call it a day (at work, I only wish I were going to bed... yes, I'm blogging at work) and head home. I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend, not too cold, not too hot, not too wet, but just right! Looks like we'll be getting some rain tomorrow in our neck of the woods, but I'm sure we'll manage. In fact, I'm pretty sure I could manage just about any weather as long as it's on the weekend!

Princess Emery is 13 weeks/3 months old (ok, a day early)!

Princess Emery,

I'm pretty sure that time is flying at warp speed! I feel like I blink and a whole week has sped by... kinda makes me not want to blink!

You are such a little doll and definitely a Princess in training! You have gotten everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, wrapped around your little finger. Even your 88 year old great-grandpa, my grandpa, is more than happy to get down on the floor and play with you and I don't think that's a very easy task for him anymore. But you smile, coo, and he's right down there with you. Some call it "spoiled," but I tend to refer to it as, "well taken care of." ;o)

I'm not sure what is going on with your sleep schedule but as good as I can tell, you must be having a growth spurt. You are steadily eating about 4 ounces, every three hours. That means that you are now back to waking up twice a night (three sometimes... ugh) and it is tough! I was liking the whole only getting up once thing, but surely this shall pass. When you first go to sleep you are content to sleep on your positioner between Daddy and I, but after about an hour you want to be nuzzled up next to me on my arm. I always give in, maybe that's part of the problem.

You are smiling so much now and are laughing quite a bit more too. We can't help but laugh right back at you! I think you may be close to rolling over too, you were pretty darn close tonight when you were on your mat. You have also started giving those big, drooly, open mouthed kisses. It's adorable! If we act like we are going to kiss you, you open your mouth and lean in... I love it!

Your spitting up is about the same and you are drooling a lot. I often wonder if you'll be an early teether like your brother was. He got two teeth at 16 weeks and by 8 months he had 8 teeth. I can't tell if you just really like your hands and think they taste awesome or if you are really teething. Another thing that time will tell.

I can't believe that tomorrow you will be three months old! This time last year we were smack dab in the middle of IVF #5 and you were a wonderful dream that we spent hours dreaming about! Happy 3 month birthday baby girl!

Love,
Mommy

Because it just doesn't get any cuter than this...

Happy New Year again! Chase was being a little toot and was too busy to sit still for his own shot, but I'll take what I can get! ;o) Hope everyone has had a fantastic week, you're staying warm, and ready for a great weekend!

Thanks for the prayers for Baby Keaton below, he is "exceeding expectations" after surgery, which is awesome. Continue to send those prayers and go by the page linked below to send them well wishes of your own.

I need to do a Mental Sticky here this weekend (gotta find that time) because Chase has been cracking me up lately. Man I love that kid!

It's late, I'm tired, and headed to bed! Night!

****I am grateful for
1) those two little kids pictured above
2) Baby Keaton is doing well!
3) my warm house, it's C-O-L-D here in TX!
4) I can park in the garage thanks to my rockin' hubby!
5) TGIF tomorrow!

Prayers for Baby Keaton ASAP

You can read about Baby Keaton here. He is the newborn son of an Internet friend that I met on an IF support board years ago. She has son, Nolan, that is just a little younger than Chase and then two week old twin boys, Brogan and Keaton. Brogan is home after a NICU stay, but Keaton has a serious heart condition and will be having surgery today. I can't imagine what they are going through and my heart aches for them. Please take a few seconds to send a prayer for this sweet baby boy, his surgeons/medical team, and his family and he undergoes heart surgery today. Thanks!

~Kahla

****I am grateful for
1) I made it out of bed this morning, even if it was late!
2) The kids all had a safe and fun holiday (although they did NOT want to come back to school)
3) prayers for Baby Keaton!
4) medicine and science to help Baby Keaton!

Princess Emery is 12 weeks old!

Princess Emery,

Today you are 12 weeks old and what a big girl you are quickly becoming! I am so proud of you, but I sure wish you weren't growing quite this fast! Everyone that sees you just goes on and on about how adorable you are and we couldn't agree more. Our only problem is that your face is so adorably cute, that it never fails that someone wants to touch your sweet, chubby cheeks. UGH! I swear (except that with the whole new year I'm really trying not to) that I'm going to put a huge sign next to you that reads, "Please remember that I'm still too little for your big germs." Or something like that! ;o)

We pulled out your big brother's old bum.bo seat this weekend and you had no problems sitting in it. I'll admit, you looked adorable. Do I say that too much? That you look adorable? Anyway, you did a great job sitting there and of course your big brother had to demonstrate how he could still fit in it as well. He is a hoot. You think he's hilarious and he certainly loves to entertain you!

You have also discovered your hands this week! You are batting at the things that hang from your bouncers, but you can't quite grasp them yet. I think it's coming fast though! You love to hold our hands while you are taking your bottle and grip them as tight as you can. Speaking of bottles and feeding, today is my last day of pumping. My supply has gone down drastically since going back to work and I'm just not getting very much anymore. In the ideal world we would have been exclusively breastfeeding, but we all know the world is far from ideal! I will let you keep nursing as long as you want and we'll just see what happens. I know you'll be just fine either way! I'm proud we made it to 12 weeks no matter what.

I talked to Dr. Q today about your spitting up. I am not kidding when I say we can go through five bibs in five minutes, I think you are going for a record! She feels that you are starting to use your stomach muscles more and that is probably the culprit for the spit up. We went over a few options and have decided that we'll just deal with it. You'll outgrow it eventually and who cares if we smell like baby juice all the time! I wouldn't trade it for the world!

We love you Little Princess!
~Mommy
